5 Reasons to try reflexology for better health

Reflexology is a very individual treatment and is often claimed to be a cure for many things, whilst many claims are purely based on anecdotal evidence there are some benefits that are universally acknowledged, with much evidence to back them up:

1. Improves circulation

Poor circulation often indicates other underlying health conditions. Long term poor circulation lead to health complications. Reflexology improves blood flow to vital organs. As blood flow improves, various organs and systems receive greater concentrations of oxygen and nutrition-rich blood. In turn, this can help nourish tissues and enhance healing.

2. Boosts Immune System

Reflexology not only helps stimulate blood flow, but also lymph fluid — helping the body naturally clean tissue and boost overall immunity.Remember, prevention is ALWAYS better than cure – supporting your immune system allows you to naturally protect yourself.

3. Relieves stress

Stress is a huge contributor to illness and medical conditions. Reflexology is a proven therapy which can reduce stress levels. It is also used to address symptoms of depression and anxiety. Reflexology can lower blood pressure, improve sleep patterns and even reduce pain.

4. Increases energy

Chronic Fatigue is on the increase. Reflexology can help target “blockages” that hinder the natural flow of energy and in turn can make us feel tired and sluggish. Reflexology promotes free flowing energy and helps keep the body in balance.

5. Reflexology is NOT a recent fad

There is evidence that this technique dates back as far as 2330 BC, however it first became popular in the Western world in 1917 in the United States, when William H. Fitzgerald, MD, also known as the father of reflexology, found that various pressure points relieved pain during minor surgeries. Today we have maps of the feet (and hands) which indicate reflex points and their potential benefits, and thus we have the treatment Reflexology.
